Public Affairs Residential College at North Mid-Quads

650 Emerson Place

With brand new facilities as of fall 2015, the Public Affairs Residential College has earned a reputation as one of the nicest buildings on campus. A spacious kitchen is well-suited for cooking, and the bathrooms are rumored to be legendary. As a residential college, PARC also hosts thematic programming and integrates interaction with faculty fellows. Residents of PARC typically eat meals in the Allison Residential Community dining hall, but its convenient location makes it easy to branch out, whether it’s on Northwestern’s campus or in downtown Evanston.

What residents say

“I enjoy the firm sense of community that exists at PARC and the diversity of its constituents. It’s far from North Campus, so getting there is quite a walk.”

Sean Hamlet, Weinberg freshman

“PARC is great because of all the programing that goes on, and it has really nice facilities. It’s really close to Evanston which is convenient. It’s a little far from central campus, but I think the niceness makes up for it.”

Lauren Furst, SESP freshman

“I like that it’s close to Evanston. Even though being an engineer and having to walk up north every time, the building is nice enough to make it worth the walk. ”

Colton Colwell, McCormick sophomore

“What I really like about PARC is that the common space on the first floor is really conducive to community building. Whether it’s baking together in the kitchen, or crowding together by the TV to watch Game of Thrones, it’s just a really open space. ”

Alicia Zheng, Communication sophomore

“PARC helped me to feel more at home at school and like I had a stable group of friends. Schooldude responses have been particularly super slow for this building, however.”

Rachel Doherty, Weinberg freshman
