Gameday
Prepare for the experience of your first Northwestern football game and learn about the terrifying, heartbreaking and chaotic aspects of gameday.
Your first college home can be a taste of freedom and provide you with a great community, but the housing selection process can also be daunting. North by Northwestern's Housing Guide has you covered. Use the filters to see which buildings work for you, then click a building name to see video, photos and more.

Editor's Note: This year North by Northwestern did not include Shepard Residential College, Public Affairs Residential College, the North Mid-Quads and the South Mid-Quads because of ongoing renovations. The SMQ and NMQ renovations will be completed by the fall, and they will hosting the two Residential Colleges next year, so check out last year's housing guide to learn about those dorms.
We chose to divide the unofficial "North Campus" and "South Campus" by Foster Street, so anything south of Foster is South Campus and anything north of Foster is North Campus.
The university categorizes its halls into four types. A residential community has student-organized events and live-in faculty. A residential college has a theme and offers activities and specialized classes supported by faculty fellows. Special interest housing includes Interfaith Residence Hall in 1835 Hinman, GREEN House and other halls with particular focuses. A residence hall offers a classic college experience.
Gender Open Housing has existed since 2010 as "an arrangement whereby students, regardless of sex, gender, or gender identity, are permitted to share a room or suite in select areas of Northwestern’s residence halls." Currently, no first-year students are eligible for gender open housing.
