What residents say

“If you live on North Campus, you have to plan your whole day around going to CVS. We don’t. Evanston’s right there. I wouldn’t ever say, ‘Oh, I wish I was further away from Andy’s.’ Our location is the best of both worlds, as Hannah Montana would say. Or Miley Cyrus.”

Madeleine Kenyon, Communication freshman

“The typical Willardite is someone who is always down for something. When I read the description of Willard, one of the only words that kept coming up was social. You still have close relationships, but you also have a variety of people. Especially with the residential college aspect, the community is so strong and prevalent here. It’s not just a Welcome Week thing. There’s always something happening, and when there’s not, someone’s willing to make something happen. Also, I personally needed the walk-in closet. If I had a closet like in Jones or something I don’t think I could live here.”

Jane Castro, Weinberg freshman

“I love the people in the Lard. There is a sense of fun (and) having community. People here are weirder than average. Everyone’s quirky, and most people are accepting. You can be weird; it’s comfortable. The rooms are huge, but the bathrooms kinda suck. It’s not the worst, but it’s also not the best. The only thing is that we’re far from North Campus and weekend activities”

Kati Krchnavy, Weinberg freshman

“Willard is one of the few places where you can get to know faculty and experience all of our unique events like firesides and pudding wrestling. Probably Fran’s is the best thing about Willard. I eat a lot of late night food.”

Jason Glass, McCormick freshman

“I think there’s a lot more history than other Residential Colleges. People feel very strongly about tradition and celebrating around the common bond of Frances Willard, which you might not get at other dorms. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys the south campus atmosphere, live in Willard. If not, live in Elder.”
