One of the southernmost halls, 1835 Hinman is located just a few blocks from downtown Evanston and has its own dining hall on the first floor. Hinman is an open suite-style residence hall with single- and double-occupancy rooms and is open to all undergraduate students, but houses mainly freshman and sophomores.
“The amenities are old and sometimes it’s 150 degrees, but you can deal with it. The people are really nice. I lived in Elder fall quarter. People need to realize how drastic north and south campus life is. Every night, people would be partying in the lounge and running down the hall, screaming. At the end of fall quarter, I moved to Hinman, and the transferring process was really easy. I am so happy in Hinman. Hinman saved my life.”

“What makes Hinman great is not necessarily the facilities, but the community. I love the fact that there is a dining hall downstairs. I love all of the people that work here. They are kind and welcoming and truly make you feel apart of the Hinman community. The dining hall is really indispensable because in the cold harsh winters of Chicago, it’s great to go downstairs to eat the food.”
