Along with 1838 Chicago, Elder is one of two all-freshman dorm on campus and is known for its extremely social atmosphere. Since it’s a very large dorm, there’s always something fun going on. With weekly get-togethers for cider and donuts and frequent “Elder Munchies,” there are many opportunities to bond with fellow residents. The dining hall and numerous study rooms are notable amenities.
“So my favorite part about Elder is it’s very social, everyone here is a freshman, everyone gets to know each other, there’s no like, hostility between anyone. The lounges are really nice ‘cause it brings people together, everyone just goes out and hangs out there. On the negative side… I don’t really have anything negative to say, I like Elder, it’s a nice facility too. ”

“It’s great because everyone’s a freshman, we’re all taking relatively the same classes, so if we ever need help, we just go to the lounge and hang out. And the vibe encourages us to hang out and know each other more, so everyone on my floor at least is really good friends. ”
